In the Beginning…
Flyz Inc. was established in March 2016. The original business model was a tying operation offering high-quality, bespoke flies to the South African retail market. In time, we also intended to extend the company’s reach by exporting area-specific fly ranges.
Flyz Inc. Grows
In a short space of time, with the contacts and involvement of Keith Rose Innes, Murray Pedder and Derek Manson, the business has secured five major agencies: Thomas & Thomas Fly Rods, Shilton Reels, Cortland Fly Lines, Renzetti Tying tools and Solarez UV resins. The Flyz Inc. range of flies has grown substantially and is currently being exported into the Seychelles, Russia, Norway and Dubai. The company’s long-term goals are to expand even further into the export market, while simultaneously increasing local fly-fishing knowledge and expertise. These goals are possible given Flyz Inc.’s promotion of unique, high-quality and successful fish-catching flies for species worldwide. We specialise in custom orders and offer several pattern ranges that are not found locally.
Travel Opportunities
Travel is a much-loved aspect of Flyz Inc.’s portfolio. Trips on offer include international destinations such as the Seychelles, Costa Rica, Columbia, Argentina, Bolivia, Nicaragua and Zambia. Local trips cover destinations such as Highland Lodge in the Eastern Cape, the Orange River, Sterkfontein and, of course, the magical Vaal.
Our Short Courses
Flyz Inc. also offers different courses to newly-introduced enthusiasts. These include casting and tying lessons, clinics and corporate events. Derek Mason is highly qualified in the teaching of spey casting and Murray Pedder is a well-known fly-tying expert. He has been demonstrating fly-tying techniques to young and old for more than 20 years.
